Forest Walk unlit after 7pm until 30 November, Berlayar Creek shut to March

Some stretches of Forest Walk at Telok Blangah Hill Park stay unlit from 7pm to 7am until 30 November 2026. NParks put that on the park page as notice number one. Henderson Waves still switches its LED on from 7pm to 2am. People keep treating those two as the same night walk. They are not, for the next six weeks.

Forest Walk is the elevated metal path through the canopy between HortPark / Alexandra Arch and Telok Blangah Hill. After dark it is already a bad idea on a normal year because the earth trail below is closed after 7pm. Until 30 November, parts of the walk itself go black. If you came for the lights, stay on the wooden bridge. If you came to join the two parks at night, wait until December or do it in the morning.

Alexandra Arch on the Southern Ridges, the HortPark end of Forest Walk

Henderson Waves is 274 metres long and 36 metres up, Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park. Seven wooden ribs, alcoves you can sit in. The nutmeg tree at the Mount Faber Plaza end is a leftover from when this slope was a plantation, not a caption for Instagram. Cycle if you want, but get off and push across the span.

There is no car park at the bridge. From Henderson Road it is a steep climb. From the Telok Blangah Hill car parks, 15 to 20 minutes uphill. Those three lots are free. Carpark 1 has 17 cars, Carpark 2 has 43, Carpark 3 has 7. No wheelchair access on this park. Lightning closes the span because there is no shelter in the middle.

Mount Faber Car Park D is still shut

Car Park D at Mount Faber Park remains closed for slope stabilisation, expected through December 2026. NParks' PDF notice says use Car Park C. D is only 7 cars and one accessible lot anyway. C has 16 cars, 6 motorcycles, 2 accessible. A, B and the coach park are open. No parking fees on the hill.

A footpath on Mount Faber Loop between Henderson Waves and the cable car station has been closed since a slope failure on 14 January 2025. The park map shows the workaround. You can still reach Faber Peak. You cannot pretend the loop is intact. Marang Trail from the Seah Im car park junction is the other way up, 700 metres of steps, about 15 minutes, HarbourFront MRT.

Telok Blangah Hill has a second long closure. The path below the Therapeutic Garden has been shut since 13 June 2025, works to 31 March 2028. That one is not a lighting story. It just means the garden terrace is not a through route.

Berlayar Creek is out until 31 March 2027

The Berlayar Creek boardwalk at Labrador Nature Park closed on 3 June 2026 for cyclical works, expected finish 31 March 2027. NParks' FAQ is blunt. Re-decking, structure, railing, lights, paint. One-to-one replacement, no new design, because this is one of two remaining mangroves on the south coast of the mainland. No excavation, no mangrove plants pulled. Noise kept down. Debris off-site.

The boardwalk is the fast link from Labrador Park MRT toward Reflections at Keppel Bay. With it shut, NParks tells you to take a bus on West Coast Highway or alight at Telok Blangah MRT, which is closer to Keppel Bay on foot. The pavilion on the creek is closed with the boardwalk. Nearest shelter is Labrador Park station. The Casemate and the rocky shore are already closed for safety. The nature reserve section still runs 7am to 7pm. The rest of Labrador Nature Park is 24 hours. No pets in the reserve. No cycling, no drones.

Bukit Chermin Boardwalk, the 300-metre coastal span onto Keppel Bay, is a different structure. The closed red line on the June notice is Berlayar Creek. Use the orange alternative into the park. The 2.1 kilometre nature and coastal walk is not a loop while the creek is fenced.

HortPark lawns at Hyderabad Road, daylight start of a Southern Ridges walk

Start at HortPark in the day if you want the ridges without the dark stretch. 6am to 11pm, 33 Hyderabad Road, parking charged. Walk Alexandra Arch, Forest Walk while it is light, Telok Blangah Hill, then Henderson Waves for the 7pm lights. Skip Forest Walk after dusk until December. Skip Berlayar Creek until next March. Eat at Seah Im or Telok Blangah Drive before you climb Marang, unless 16 November has the Drive closed for cleaning.

Birds on this hill are a morning job, 7am to 9am around Singing Forest. Raptors ride the ridge from September to April. None of that wants a torch on an unlit boardwalk.
