A beloved fried carrot cake stall known for its irresistibly charred edges and hearty black and white versions.
Lim Kee Fried Carrot Cake is the kind of hawker stall that lives in the memory—the sort where the sizzle of radish cake hitting a well-seasoned wok draws you in before you''ve even placed your order. Known for its beautifully charred edges and generous use of chye poh, this is fried carrot cake that hits all the right notes: crispy on the outside, soft within, and deeply savoury throughout.
Choose between the white version—pan-fried with egg and preserved radish for a savoury bite—or the black version, tossed in sweet dark soy sauce for a richer, caramelised finish. Plates start from around $3, with extra portions and add-ons like prawns available. Come during peak hours and you''ll see the wok action in full swing; the queue moves steadily but the wait is always worthwhile.
If chye poh and wok hei are your love language, Lim Kee should be on your must-try list. Find opening hours and more details on MakanSouth before you go.

CMI carrot cake. No heart and skills to cook a nice black carrot cake. This is simply just horrible tasting. It's just fry hot some carrot cake and throw in sweet sauce (not special mixed sweet sauce) and cannot be bothered to even cook it evenly before serving. First and last time.

Flavour is v good, classic old sch style. The pieces look mushy but is actually just right in softness. V generous with the egg. Chilli can be more evenly spread out. The portion size for the small and big portion not v consistent though, after observing a few plates/packets. Tried the white, will get the black next time!
